FluentCap is a desktop application that captures system audio and provides real-time transcription with translation options.

Current market limitations: 

• Applications that create captions->translate live often only support microphones, some others use computer audio but are only integrated into browsers/Zoom/Teams/Google Meet -> You cannot replay a video from a meeting, a movie, or a Facetime call.

• Most require a monthly subscription ($15-30/month) with 8 hours of usage per month; if you want to use it for longer, you have to pay a much higher fee, and if you want to use only 3-4 hours a month, then paying $10-15 is quite wasteful.

FluentCap's approach: FluentCap is a desktop application that simultaneously captures system audio and microphone. It works with all audio sources — movies, YouTube, podcasts, video calls.

Technical model:

• BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) — users connect their own API key from Deepgram, Gladia, or AssemblyAI.

• Uses various service providers to cater to individual usage needs; for example, if you use English at a relatively basic level, you can use Deepgram for free for up to 750 hours!

• Pay-per-use (~$2-3/month for average usage).

• Providers offer $50-200 in free credits (100-750 hours).

• All transcripts are stored locally on the user's machine.

• Switching providers at any time without data loss.

• Real-time translation in 100+ accompanying languages.
