You pay $20/$100/$200/month for Claude Pro/Max (or other AI agents). You use it for 20 hours a day. So every night you waste 4 hours.

Based on personal needs, I created AutoShell cli to take advantage of that wasted 4 hours, "stripping" the Claude Code.

Previously, I had seen someone create a similar tool, but it was GUI. I made it cli, with additional future directions.

Brief introduction:

- AutoShell is a CLI tool that helps you schedule and run shell commands automatically — including commands to launch AI agents like Claude, Aider, or Cursor CLI.

- You just need to write a simple YAML file, and AutoShell will take care of the rest: scheduling, handling interactive responses, managing rate limits, and notifying when the job is done (Slack,...).

- Open source. Apache-2.0. Runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux.

Use cases for AutoShell cli:

- During the day, fully brainstorm and create detailed plans.

- At night, let AutoShell run according to the plans, automatically stopping when rate limits are reached, automatically restarting after resetting, and automatically responding to interactive prompts (at a basic level).

Example case I often use:

- During the day, brainstorm and come up with 3 plans: implement backend, implement frontend web, implement frontend admin.

- At night, let AutoShell implement those 3 plans sequentially.

- In the morning, there’s enough code for the backend, frontend web, and frontend admin. Of course, it can't be done all at once, but at least there is a base code for me to continue improving the next day, instead of starting from scratch.

A few notes:

- AutoShell is not an AI agent. It is just a scheduling and automation tool. You still need to have separate AI agents (Claude, Aider, Cursor CLI,...) for actual work.

- There is one case where AutoShell will fail: if the machine sleeps before the task runs. AutoShell cannot wake the machine up. The solution is to turn off sleep mode.

Quick start:

- Uninstall task: `autoshell uninstall <task name>`
